So you were told that the patients skin exam was normal on admission to the emergency department. However, when you ended up examining the patient. You may see something like what we see at the top of this slide. This is clearly an older child. It's not this infant that we're discussing. But you could very well see this finding. So you see on this child a lot of erythema. Most of which is probably going to develop into bruising. You definitely can see a number of petechiae underneath the ear and then more proximal to the face. This child that we discussed, this young baby. Had a comprehensive evaluation for non-accidental trauma and also ended up having rib fractures. And for example, I'm showing you a picture here. Of a child with a number of rib fractures, some of which have arrows pointing to them.
