When child abuse is suspected, providers are responsible for contacting their state’s child abuse hotline. In many states, there are specific mandated reporter numbers. Physicians and other licensed health care providers are mandated reporters of child maltreatment and neglect.
Mandated Reporters in New York State should call 311 in NYC or call the State Central Register's Mandated Reporter hotline directly at 1(800) 635-1522. If the child is in immediate danger, call 911.
