The last slide highlighted why it's important to work with the other agencies that interact with families when children are being evaluated for non-accidental trauma.
The groups of people, the other professionals that we work with include PCPs and obstetrician and gynecologists when we're working with a baby.
We review medical records, including delivery and newborn nursery records. We try to get a hold of the PCP office visit notes and their growth curves.
And we may obtain history from collateral witnesses just to see if they know anything about an accidental mechanism that the family may be offering.
Our plan included an NAT evaluation for this child. An evaluation for his sibling.
And also, we were also interested in assessing mom for postpartum depression.
Concern. We were concerned that mom may need a formal evaluation for postpartum depression and treatment for it.
And in terms of the National Children's Alliance. We worked on outpatient follow-up at our child advocacy center for this patient and the sibling. That is incredibly important. Our jobs are not done when the patients leave the hospital.
